Car Maintenance: Schedules, Costs and DIY Checks

Maintenance is cheaper than repair, but only when it fits real life. We build schedules around normal driving, explain what each warning sign means and separate the jobs you can do in your driveway from the ones that need a workshop. Receipts and real intervals, not dealership optimism.

What we look for

Every maintenance guide is checked against the same standard: does the advice hold up in a real car, is the cost honest, and would we recommend it to a friend without a warning attached. When a part, a service or a habit falls short, the caveat goes in the guide.

Where safety or specification figures matter we defer to public bodies such as NHTSA and the IIHS, then sanity-check them against our own workshop notes before publishing.
